Overview
OpenRouter has no recurring subscription on a standard account. You buy credits and use them as you go — a credit purchase is a one-time charge that doesn't renew. The only thing that can charge you automatically is Auto Recharge, which you turn on yourself and can switch off anytime.
Will I be charged again?
If you bought credits once, that's it — there's no monthly fee and nothing renews on its own. You're only billed again if either of these is true:
- You use the API. Inference draws down the credit balance you already bought. That's usage, not a subscription.
- You turned on Auto Recharge. This tops your balance back up automatically when it drops below a threshold you set. It's optional and off unless you enabled it.
How to stop automatic charges
To make sure nothing charges you again, turn off Auto Recharge:
- Go to your Credits page.
- Find the Auto Recharge setting and turn it off (or lower it / remove the saved payment method).
With Auto Recharge off, your balance simply runs down as you use it and is never topped up automatically. You can keep using whatever credits remain.
"Cancel my subscription"
There's no subscription to cancel on a standard account, so there's nothing that keeps billing you in the background. If you just want to stop spending, turn off Auto Recharge (above) and stop making API calls. If you're on an Enterprise or Pro plan you signed up for, contact support and we'll help with that specifically.
Refunds on a recent purchase
If you bought credits and want them back, you can refund an unused credit purchase within 24 hours using the refund button on your Credits page. After that window credits are non-refundable, and crypto payments are never refundable.
